Solar Storm might turn the TV off

A solar storm is heading for Earth.  The storm, the largest since 2007,  is the result of a solar eruption (Flare) which occurred Tuesday evening.  The released charged particles are heading for the Earth at a speed of 4 million miles per hour.  The particles are expected to arrive between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. EST Thursday 8th March 2012 and stop sometime Friday morning 9th March 2012.

  • Power outages
  • Disruption to satellite tv service
  • GPS errors and or outages
  • Radio communication problems
  • Magnetic emissions
PROS:
  • Northern Aurora visible further south
  • Canada and USA Great Lakes area, 
  • Thursday night and early Friday morning
